Okay let's talk trends..

The ones that work, and the ones that don't:

Not this!
Bubble Hems - Ok, yes I also followed this trend when the look came out circa 2006. Bubble hem dresses usually are designed from stretch cotton, in shorter styles hitting us on the largest part of the thigh and creating a 'bubble' of volume there. Not the best option when trying to elongate, especially on a smaller frame. Especially sinful is the bubble hem shirt which I've found no matter what body shape you have, can and will make you look as though you're expecting, no not Spring Vogue.
Also under this style sin is the Banded Dress. This style has a wide elasticized band at the bottom, which creates the 'Bubble Butt' look, almost as offensive as the dreaded 'Muffin Top'.

Essential pairing.
White Shoes - No I'm not talking beige, cream or any other variation of white, I only mean stark white, which say a little more Streetwalker than High Street. With every rule there are exceptions, however the majority of white shoes; pumps, boots, wedges should be left in the 80's with your scrunchie.
An alternative - every women should own a pair of nude shoes. They match absolutely everything, elongate your legs and this classic look never goes out of style. A real investment piece!

(Identities have been protected)
Matchy-Matchy - We all know by now, that age-old rule about matching your shoes to your belt to your bag is no longer valid, right?

Brand Wh*re - Wearing designer duds with the logo or brand splashed all across the garment is a little 90's. Buy designer pieces because of the quality, design and fit they offer, not to be a walking advertisement. (I'm looking at you Ed Hardy fans!)

Colour Blocking - Being a huge trend as seen on the runways for Spring, this is a great trend to bring us out of that long drab winter. However, my tip is when you are colour-blocking to stay on the same side of the colour wheel. Ex. Green/Blue, Orange/Brown

Belted - A few years ago belts came back in a huge way. Think Kate Moss' circular stud hip belt, bad. Then the trend moved its way up to the waist accentuating the smallest part of a women's torso, good. While this trend is still valid in every sense, go for skinny styles rather than wide to stay atop this trend.

Faux-Pas Nah -  Fake designer handbags, yes we can all tell! Or what I call - the ultimate crime against fashion.
I cannot stress enough the fact that every women should own one great designer handbag. Keeping it in the neutral family will ensure longevity. Even if you have to, erm, eat canned tuna for one entire summer, not that I have. And no matter what anyone says, they are an investment!
Ever heard of the saying, it doesn't matter what you wear as long as you have a great handbag to go with it? Well.. it almost doesn't.
